French Whites

Alsace

2010 Cave de Beblenheim Pinot Gris Réserve Particulière   A wonderfully seductive example of the genre; the palate is pure and focussed, with long and spicy pear nuances. While not as rich as many from Alsace (a positive in my mind), the wine is impeccably made, feminine and beguiling, has great line and length with a lovely backbone of refreshing acidity. Outstanding value    $26.95 per bottle

2009 Domaine Paul Blanck Pinot Gris   $34.95 per bottle

2007 Domaines Schlumberger Les Princes Abbes Pinot Blanc   $29.50 per bottle

Bordeaux

2009 Chateau Doisy Daene Blanc Sec   A stunning wine that amply demonstrates how great white Bordeaux puts all Australian and New Zealand sauvignon blancs in the shade; "A superb nose of white peaches. On the pallet, it is mouth filling and complex, well balanced and elegant. A great success" - Le Figaro Club Vin, 92-94 points; "It has an extraordinarily fresh, jack-in-the-box nose with superb definition and minerality... The palate is extremely taut with racy acidity, fresh green apple, quite sharp, it really electrifies the mouth with white peach towards the delineated finish" - Robert Parker, 88-90 points; "Great length and finish" - Le Revue du Vin de France   $47.95 per bottle

2010 Chateau Magneau Blanc   "Pure and racy, the pleasure is confirmed in the aromatic extension of the bouquet. Well balanced between roundness and vividness, it has a remarkable volume. This Graves reflects all the typicity of its terroir and it is perfectly vinified. Full, round and silky, with just enough nervousness" - Hachette, The French Wine Bibles; "Stylish and well made with plenty of fruit' - David Peppercorn MW; "A very successful, eco-friendly wine" - Le Revue du Vin de France, 90 points; "Very attractive with aromas of white peach, abundant fruit and good acidity" - Stepehen Brook, The Complete Bordeaux   $24.95 per bottle
